Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for a 4-month Occupational Health and Safety Summer Student role at our manufacturing hub in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The summer student term is from May to August 2025.

Working closely with and reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Occupational Health and Safety Summer Student will play a key role in overseeing Magellan Aerospace’s Health and Safety culture and programs.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and revision of safety talks, safety and health policies, safe work procedures, and job hazard analysis.
• Assist in monitoring and updating portals, folders, documents, and work instructions.
• Assist in workplace investigations, recording incidents, and record keeping.
• Assist in risk assessments and site inspections, PPE assessments, and identifying potential hazards.
• Assist in machine guarding risk assessments.
• Participate in the design, development and delivery of H&S policies and programs.
• Perform workplace inspections and complete checklists.
• Maintain SDS (Safety Data Sheets).

Position Requirements

• High Computer Literacy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office emails, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills
• Teamwork ethic
• Time and priority management, working with a sense of urgency to meet or exceed deadlines
• Adaptability and flexibility in changing tasks priority or projects
• Creative and innovative thinking and problem-solving

• Adherence to policies, practices, and procedures
• Occupational Health & Safety Certificate, Diploma, or is enrolled as a student within the Occupational Health & Safety program; OR
• Post-secondary education relating to Business or Business Administration with experience Occupational Health & Safety
• First Aid, CPR certification would be an asset
