Position Summary

The Disability Coordinator will be responsible for (Workers Compensation (WCB), Short Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), Return to Work (RTW) & Accommodations)

 

Onsite: M-F 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Manager of Occupational Health and Safety, the Disability/Return to Work coordinator will coordinate occupational and non-occupational claims (WCB, STD, LTD), return-to-work planning, and accommodations
  • Coordinate with external medical specialists, consultants, and therapists
  • Conduct ergonomic and physical demands assessments for production and office staff
  • Support injury investigations and track/report incident and near-miss data to identify trends
  • Build strong relationships with employees and supervisors through regular floor walks
  • Deliver presentations and training on wellness programs and employee assistance resources
  • Serve as the first point of contact for workplace injuries and collaborate with the emergency response team
  • Handle administrative duties such as filing, data entry, and payroll system updates
  • Ensure confidentiality and align activities with corporate goals of reducing accident rates
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Position Requirements

  • Academic Certification in Disability Management or Return to Work Coordinator Program and/or experience is required.
  • College or University Diploma or Certification in Occupational Safety and Health is considered an asset.
  • Experience working within a unionized environment is required.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Working knowledge of Worker’s Compensation policies and procedures, legislation protecting the privacy and confidentiality of medical information, and human rights legislation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all categories of hospital employees.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Good working knowledge of and experience with standard office equipment and software (i.e. Microsoft Office, etc).
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
