Position Summary

 

Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga has an exciting new opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer. The purpose of this position is to provide engineering support services, in accordance with DND’s ATO/ADO airworthiness requirements, for the CF18 F404-GE-400 Engine and Secondary Power System Components as specified in the F404 Propulsion Group Sustainment contract. Duties include repair development for F404 engine components.

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

  • Evaluate unserviceable hardware for possible recovery
  • Develop new repair processes to recover unserviceable engine parts
  • Author changes to technical manuals regarding engine operation, troubleshooting & maintenance
  • Develop and coordinate repair & overhaul activities for various aero engine components
  • Develop/analyze program performance measurables to identify areas for potential improvement
  • Analyze cost effectiveness and operational impact of design changes
  • Lead failure investigations

 

Position Requirements

 

  • Engineering Degree, preferably in Aerospace, Gas Turbine or Metallurgy
  • Registered or eligible to register as a P.Eng.
  • Experience in a similar position preferred
  • Ability to understand complex mechanical systems
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals
  • Familiarity with metallurgical failure modes and repair processes
  • Knowledge of special processes associated with engine repair including welding, brazing, plasma coating, chemical cleaning and NDT inspection
