Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer. The successful incumbent will be responsible for providing engineering support services, in accordance with DND’s ATO/ADO airworthiness requirements, for the CT114 Tutor J85-CAN-40 Engine and Related Components as specified in the J85 R&O contract. Duties include provision of engineering support, technical investigations and repair development for J85 engines and components.
Essential Responsibilities
- Evaluate unserviceable hardware for possible recovery
- Develop new repair processes to recover unserviceable engine parts
- Author changes to technical manuals regarding engine operation, troubleshooting & maintenance
- Develop and coordinate repair & overhaul activities for various aero engine components
- Develop/analyze program performance measurables to identify areas for potential improvement
- Analyze cost effectiveness and operational impact of design changes
- Lead technical investigations
Position Requirements
- Engineering Degree, preferably in Aerospace, Gas Turbine or Metallurgy
- Registered or eligible to register as a P.Eng.
- Experience in gas turbine maintenance engineering preferred
- Ability to understand complex gas turbine mechanical systems
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals
- Familiarity with metallurgical failure modes and repair processes
- Knowledge of special processes associated with engine repair including welding, brazing, plasma coating, chemical cleaning and NDT inspection

- Candidates who are chosen for the position will need to pass a security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program and obtain and maintain a Contract Security clearance at the Secret Status level
