Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga has a great opportunity for a General Accountant. The purpose of this position is to support the monthly close process and ensures the accuracy of financial transactions across AR, AP, the general ledger, and fixed assets. The role contributes to cash flow reporting, budget preparation, audit support, and financial analysis in a deadline-driven aerospace MRO environment, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal control procedures
Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000

Essential Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle AR and AP processes, including invoice processing, payment applications, customer payments, and reconciliations.
- Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Monitoring and supervision of Accounts payable management.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, allocations, and adjustments.
- Review transactions for proper coding and compliance with accounting policies.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Assist the Controller with month-end closing activities and financial reporting.
- Participate in year-end close procedures and preparation of audit-ready working papers.
- Prepare year-end external audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries.
- Preparing and reporting the intercompany schedule
- Prepare and maintain weekly cash flow reports.
- Monitor cash balances and support cash forecasting activities.
- Maintain fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, and transfers.
- Calculate and record depreciation.
- Support periodic physical verification of fixed assets.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to requests.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and company policies.
- Support implementation and maintenance of process improvements.
- Dealing & maintaining working relationships with banks, government bodies & intercompany.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Controller or management
Position Requirements
- College diploma or bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Actively pursuing a CPA designation is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting roles, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while meeting tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems is considered an asset.
