Position Summary

 

Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga has a great opportunity for an Electrical Engineer. The purpose of this position is to primarily provide engineering support services, in accordance with DND’s ATO/ADO airworthiness requirements, for the CF18 Generator Converter Unit (GCU) and F404 Engine Electrical Components as specified in the F404 Propulsion Group Sustainmentcontract. Secondary duties to include hazard assessment and statistical determination of risk probability for in-service failures of F404 and CF18 PG system components as well as technical support for 2nd Line GCU test bench maintenance and repair.

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

  • Perform technical investigations, engineering studies to determine the cause of in-service failures and performance degraders.
  • Perform continuous airworthiness activities.
  • Provide timely and accurate system expertise to the DND TA, Magellan Managers, and maintenance support organizations.
  • Perform airworthiness risk assessments for in-service failures of aerospace equipment
  • Provide support to equipment repair and overhaul by discussing and analyzing actions to be implemented to improve effectiveness of R&O activity
  • Provide technical assistance to in-plant test equipment, or other programs if required
  • Provide support to material management activities, specifically parts forecasting and obsolescence management
  • Provide troubleshooting support to 1st,2nd, 3rd linemaintenance organizations
  • Support other non-contractional divisional levelobjectives

 

Position Requirements

 

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering 
  • Member of the PEO or PEO eligible1-3 year experience in a similar role
  • Eligible to meet requirements for the Controlled Goods Program
  • Previous experience in aircraft and gas turbine engine electrical systems design, R&O or maintenanceStrong analytical skills
  • Previous reliability and/or safety engineering
  • Experience working with DND’s TechnicalAirworthiness program or equivalent
  • Action oriented: Must obtain desiredperformance outcomes with minimaloversight
  • Timely decision making: Critical flight safetyissues will require rapid responses
  • Decision quality: Must make good decisionson available evidence
  • Learning on the fly: New issues will requirequick adaptation to find innovative solutions
  • Written communications: Needs to be able tocommunicate effectively to all stakeholders
