Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga has a great opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Specialist. This position is responsible for driving process and quality improvements across the organization in alignment with the AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS). The role applies Lean and problem‑solving methodologies to improve efficiency, product conformity and on‑time delivery in aerospace programs.
Compensation: $70,500 - $83,000

Essential Responsibilities
- Lead continuous improvement projects that improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and customer satisfaction within an AS9100 environment.
- Analyze production, quality, and process data (e.g., nonconformities, scrap, rework, escapes, and audit findings) to identify trends, root causes, and priority improvement opportunities.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for process performance and QMS effectiveness (e.g., FPY, OTD, defects per unit, audit findings, repeated non-conformances, CAPA cycle time, etc.).
- Facilitate cross‑functional problem‑solving activities, such as 5Why, RCCA investigations, Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, Gemba walks, etc. to address AS9100 and customer requirements.
- Partner with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program Management to ensure improvement actions are embedded in processes and sustained over time.
- Standardize and document best practices, lessons learned, and improved methods, and support deployment of these standards across departments, programs, or on-site and off-site locations.
- Participate in QMS procedures review and improvement.
- Facilitate NPI improvements for new programs.
- Provide training and coaching to employees and leaders on Lean/continuous improvement tools.
- Perform various assigned tasks and responsibilities as needed to support and organizational objectives.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Operations Management, or related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and aerospace/industrial experience.
- Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience, preferably within the aerospace industry.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment supporting an ISO 9001 or AS9100‑compliant QMS.
- Working knowledge of AS9100 principles, process approach, risk‑based thinking, and corrective action processes.
- Hands‑on experience with Lean/continuous improvement tools: 5S, 6S, value stream mapping, standard work, visual management, root cause analysis (5‑Why, fishbone), and Kaizen facilitation.
- Effective communication and facilitation skills, able to work with all levels of the organization from operators to senior leadership.
- Project Management training, Six Sigma/6S, or other Lean methodology training would be considered an asset.
- Strong technical skills and understanding of aerospace manufacturing and inspection processes, tools and equipment.
- Good mechanical drawing interpretation skills.
- Strong data analytical skills, including use of spreadsheets and basic statistical tools to interpret process and quality data.
- Continuous improvement mindset with strong focus on quality and safety.
- Project management skills that enable to handle multiple improvement initiatives simultaneously.
- Strong training and presentation skills, with the ability to deliver clear, engaging, and audience‑appropriate content.
