Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace Middletown has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Systems Engineer. The successful incumbent will participate in and be responsible for the development, implementation, validation, and compliance maintenance of Magellan Middletown's various business management systems, including the Quality Management System (ISO 9001 / AS9100), Nadcap special processes, Environmental Management System (ISO 14001), Health and Safety Management System (AS45001), and other corporate or industry requirements (6S, MOS).
Essential Responsibilities
- Administers and maintains the Stamp Control system: Includes issuing, collecting, and securing Acceptance Authority Media, and keeping accurate records of stamp usage.
- Administers the internal and external audit system: Ensures compliance with internal, corporate, and regulatory standards. Participates in the identification and training of internal auditors, and maintains the annual audit calendar.
- Performs internal audits: Evaluates the effectiveness of business management systems.
- Participates in external audits: Works with our registrars, customers, and other third-party organizations to schedule, prepare for, and facilitate completion of audits both on site and remotely.
- Administers the document control system: Maintains accurate documentation and ensures accessibility to relevant stakeholders.
- Performs data analysis: Identifies trends and opportunities for targeted improvement activities.
- Maintains the corrective action system: Tracks and ensures timely resolution of non-conformances.
- Facilitates Nadcap special processes: Maintains Nadcap NDT personnel records, ensures compliance with Nadcap standards, and participates in internal and external Nadcap audits. Attends Nadcap meetings as a representative of Magellan Aerospace.
- Facilitates S6 / CI efforts: Promotes continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
- Works with the Metrology group: Ensures up-to-date and accurate calibration plans and performs quality reviews of third-party calibration activities as needed.
- Participates in corporate quality and CI councils: Represents the division in quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assists with monthly reporting of metrics: Tracks performance against assigned KPIs.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge: Attends educational workshops; reviews professional publications; establish personal networks; benchmarks state-of-the-art practices; participates in professional societies.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university and five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
