Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Middletown, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a reliable and hard-working Cost Accountant. As a key member of our Finance team, the successful individual will provide detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems, applying principles of cost accounting. Gathers data to determine costs of business activity, such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor as well as processing employee payroll. Analyzes data and documents results.
Essential Responsibilities
- Collects data to determine costs of business activity, such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
- Analyzes data obtained and records results using excel spreadsheets.
- Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
- Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
- Assist at month end with reconciling any costing issues
- Assist with reporting of activities associated with inventory (scrap, rework, additional costs)
- Processes weekly and bi-weekly payroll through payroll software systems.
- Provides required Company and employee information to HRIS, payroll, and other operating systems.
- Assists with audits, both internal and external
- Assists and participates with operations to drive accurate physical inventory and cycle counts
- Process routine and ad hoc requests, or any other requested assigned tasks
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting with one to two years experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with time and attendance, payroll, and HRIS systems. Time management skills to prioritize and complete a wide variety of tasks throughout the day; Organizational skills to keep accurate records and find important information quickly. Critical thinking and attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, customers, and the general public. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook. SAP, UKG, ADP
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
