Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace Middletown has an exciting opportunity for a second-shift Supervisor of Operations. The successful incumbent will direct and coordinate activities of production department(s) in processing materials or manufacturing products in industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities,and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan departmentoperations.
  • Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure productionand quality of products meets specifications.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, andmaintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimumutilization.
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers toensure compliance with standards.
  • Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances per union contract for action.
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.

 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years relatedexperience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Directly supervises hourly employees in the Operations Department.
  • Carries out supervisoryresponsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, anddirecting work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressingcomplaints and resolving problems.
  • To perform this job successfully, requires excellent communication and leadership skills. Anindividual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions,percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra andgeometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situationswhere only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished inwritten, oral, diagram, or schedule form
