Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Kitchener has a great opportunity for a Senior Accountant (6 Months Contract). The successful incumbent will oversee & ensure proper internal controls of the finance administrative activities including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, and General Accounting. Support the Finance Manager with various reporting requirements & the administration of the fiscal period processes. Reporting to the Finance Manager the Senior Accountant’s major activities and responsibilities include the following.
Please note this is a 6 month Contract with the possibility of extension.
Hourly Range: $35/hr to $40/hr

Essential Responsibilities:
- Support the cash reporting: weekly function
- Complete the month end close process in accordance with corporate timelines
- Compete monthly Financial Statement Reporting Package for Corporate
- Analyze Financial Statements and explain variance to Budget
- Analyze Costs and Margins by part on a monthly basis
- Support the Yearly Budget preparation
- Lead general accounting function, including reconciliations of general ledger accounts, A/R, A/P, recurring journal entries
- Ensure the accuracy of all department processes to the various accounts
- Perform daily review of all revenue streams, costing transactions for accuracy and investigation of discrepancies and unusual transactions
- Manage & reconcile intercompany transactions
- Identify, review and implement process improvement initiatives
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc reports
- Support the external audit process and corporate enquiries
- Monthly HST and WSIB reporting
- Be a critical interface with internal manufacturing, contracts, quality and configuration departments as needed
- Implement appropriate processes for documenting lessons learned and sharing of best practices
- Other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager
Position Requirements
- University/college degree in business or related field.
- 5 to 10 years work experience in similar position, preferably in manufacturing
- Professional Accounting designation or pursuing.
- Proficient with SAP Cincom, CODA or similar ERP systems
- Strong working knowledge of EXCEL
- Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, management regulations & compliance
- Training, inspecting work and coaching skills
- Knowledge of spreadsheet & accounting procedures
- Effective interpersonal skills
