Position Summary
The Quality Supervisor will use their technical, leadership, and team-building abilities to meet deadlines and promote high-quality work to meet corporate objectives. This position oversees the utilization of labour and resources of the assigned Quality department to ensure conformance to company procedures, customer specifications, and maintain smooth operations of the department. This is an on-site, in-person position and is being hired as a replacement. Standard hours will be Monday to Friday, day shift. The annual salary range for this role is 65,000 to 85,000 CAD. This position will have 8 to 12 direct reports.
Essential Responsibilities
Reporting to the Quality Manager the Quality Supervisor’s major activities and responsibilities include the following.
Daily Roles and Responsibilities
- Maintain conformance with all Health and Safety Regulations
- Build, develop and mentor team members to form a strong operations group, and continuously improve on results
- Supervise repair, and fabrication of parts to customer specifications using specified methods and tooling
- Coordinate the application of support functions within the assigned department to ensure material plans are achieved
- Liaise with other departments as necessary to ensure consistent flow of product through the Quality Department, ensure daily priorities are met and communicated
- Ensure adherence to company policies and Union Agreement, including initial administration of local grievance and other personnel related activities associated with the departments being supervised
- Responsible for recommending improvements to overall operations, and/or equipment within the Quality department
- Agree and monitor performance of Quality departments budgets, attendance, consumable spending, performance and overtime
- Maintain the operating condition of all equipment within departmental jurisdiction, and coordinate any repair or preventative maintenance with internal maintenance department
- Resolve Quality issues as they arise, take corrective measures to ensure smooth running of the department
- Participate with evaluations of non0conforming product
- Strong communication skills at all levels, including upper management, department heads, peers, manufacturing, engineering and customers
- Other roles and responsibilities as assigned
Continuous Improvement
- Implement appropriate processes for documenting lessons learned and sharing of best practices
Travel
- 0% travel time will be required for this position
Position Requirements
The minimum qualifications
- Three (3) to Five (5) years supervisory experience in a Quality environment, focus in aerospace would be considered an asset
- Health and Safety Supervisor Training
- Thorough knowledge of health and safety policies and procedures
- Quality resource planning, including a working understanding of capacity resources, and planning applicable to workload
- Able to interpret complex part drawings
- Experience in the operation of CMM’s and interpreting their results
- Ability to set-up and read manual checking instruments, gauges and fixtures accurately and confidently
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be self-motivated while working in a team environment
- Understanding of the use of statistical tools, such as statistical process control, six sigma, 5S, lean manufacturing techniques, including corrective actions in a team based environment
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Systems
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field is an asset
- Strong PC skills, experience using Microsoft office suite of products
The physical requirements of this job are minimal. The daily routine will entail sitting at a desk, general walking to and from meetings and conducting regular floor walks along with inspection.
