Job purpose
The Production Controller monitors the execution stage of the production plan. They control the shop floor prioritization from the release through to completion of the shop order. They work closely with manufacturing, operations, supervision and stores, PC Planners, and Master Schedulers to identify and mitigate bottleneck. To avoid delays due to MRB activities, the Production Controller works with the manufacturing engineers to amend and split shop orders as required.
The Production Controler is responsible for the day-to-day data input of Document generation, scanning, and electronic filing to support Production, Shipping, and Procurement, and general Administration duties as described herein.
Duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the Materials Manager the Production Control Administrator’s major activities and responsibilities include the following.
Daily Roles and Responsibilities
- Generating, printing, splitting and assembling all Shop Orders to support Production Schedule
- Track daily production schedules, escalate where necessary and reporting on attainment
- Ensuring that production is continuously flowing through the plant and processors
- Work closely with shop floor supervisors and manufacturing management to ensure that work centre’s follow the priorities on the dispatch lists
- Work with Stores personnel to correct any issues with pick lists, trace identifiers, quantities, etc.
- Help set priorities on the manufacturing floor to in conjunction with the PC planner.
- Process internal Manufacturing Order Change Request (MOCR) Shop Order paperwork.
- Attend stand-up and production meetings to address bottleneck areas
- Perform inventory cycle counts as designated.
- Update visual management boards on the shop floor as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Stakeholder Management
- Be a critical interface with internal manufacturing, scheduling, purchasing, quality and configuration departments as needed
Continuous Improvement
- Implement appropriate processes for documenting lessons learned and sharing of best practices

- 0% travel time will be required for this position
Qualifications
The minimum qualifications
- Commerce or Business Training, Business School Diploma or experience
- 2-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment
- Outstanding analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and Office
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
Physical requirements
The physical requirements of this job are minimal. The daily routine will entail sitting at a desk, general walking to and from meetings and conducting regular floor walks on the manufacturing floor.
