Position Summary

 

Magellan Aerospace, Kitchener has an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Director. Providing strategic management and guidance for Commercial functions including but not limited to Business Development, Contract Management, and Program Management, the successful incumbent will be responsible to ensure on-time delivery performance, quality, and overall profitable results for current and new business. The individual will also work closely in collaboration with Regional and Corporate Business development, contract management Senior Management, towards identifying and delivering company Business Development strategy.  

 

Essential Responsibilities 

 

  • Directs, manages, and oversees the commercial activities of an organization, including sales, marketing, business development, and customer relations to ensure the commercial success of the organization and accelerate expansion.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with clients, customers, and other firms.
  • Lead development and implementation of processes to ensure effective utilization, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in manufacturing, while ensuring on-time delivery to customers.
  • Provide leadership/advice on contract negotiations for major programs.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of strategic relationships with targeted customers.
  • Drives business growth and maximizes revenue and profitability.
  • Develops and implements commercial strategies that achieve established business goals.
  • Collaborates with sales and marketing teams to develop campaigns and set campaign and profit targets.
  • Contributes to establishing the company’s strategic direction and create divisional strategic business development plans.
  • Contributes to pricing strategies and promoting brand awareness. Reviews marketing trend reports to investigate and determine market values, conditions, and business opportunities.
  • Identify and recommend asset improvements and use of new technology in order to achieve improvements to production processes.
  • Travel as required to visit Magellan divisions, customers and attend industry conferences.

 

Position Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Marketing or other relevant field.
  • Minimum six (4) years of experience in Manufacturing Operations and Business development, specifically in aerospace. Must understand the defense market.
  • Knowledge of contract law, practices, regulations, policies and techniques
  • Knowledge of contracts, i.e. contract development language, terms, conditions, etc.
  • Knowledge of negotiation techniques
  • Strong interpersonal communication and problem solving skills
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with peers, employees, and customers
  • Multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Enforcing contractual obligations
  • Resolving complex, contractual issues
  • Effective oral and/or  written communication, in accurately and impartially summarizing and evaluating factors related to contracts
  • Interpreting policies and procedures
  • Writing specific terms of conditions for contracts
  • Track and ensure departments KPIs and Budgets are met
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills, as well as the proclivity to accentuate the positive
  • Ability to work well inside the organization at all levels
  • Ability to relate well with customers and vendors at all levels within their organizations
  • Strong leadership qualities
