Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Haverhill is a world-class manufacturer of precision machined aerospace components, we have an opening for a Staff Accountant

The successful incumbent will perform advanced cost-accounting work covering material and production costs, costs of sales, research and product development, etc. to compare actual costs to estimates and analyze variances. The Cost Accountant will also develop standard cost data and accurate inventory valuations.

Essential Responsibilities

• Analyze and costs manufacturing work orders following company’s costing system.
• Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor using excel spreadsheets
• Prepare the monthly cost of sales figures by analyzing material, labor, and research and development expenses. Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
• Assist the accounting manager in preparing monthly journal entries for cost of sales and scrap.
• Maintain FIFO inventory system and follows established valuation method.
• Assist with audits, both internal and external
• Analyze variances, process routine and ad hoc request, or any other requested assigned tasks

Position Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• One to three years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience working with Great Plains, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft word, SAP
• Good analytical and organizational skills
• Good knowledge of Excel and computerized accounting and costing systems.
