Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Haverhill is a world-class manufacturer of precision machined aerospace components. We have an exciting opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Specialist. The Continuous Improvement Specialist is for leading and supporting initiatives aligned with MOS (Magellan Operating System) that drive operational excellence, efficiency, and quality across the organization. This role partners with the Continuous Improvement Councils objectives and with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, facilitate, implement process improvements, and foster a culture of continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies. This is a cross-functional assignment.

The Salary Range for this Position is $80,000 - $100,000 annually

Essential Responsibilities

  • Aligned with CI Council objectives, review and study existing equipment, facilities, systems, parts and processes to improve efficiency, increase quality, and reduce costs.
  • Lead, coordinate assessments and characterize greatest opportunities for improvement, waste reduction
  • Develop a detailed project plan to prioritize identified improvement projects. In coordination with CI Council, engage teams and update projects as necessary.
  • Directs development of actions plan and estimates requirements for resources, management, labor, materials, and time needed to complete improvement projects.
  • Coordinates activities in the Quality/CI Clinic. Facilitates CI project reviews, promotes visual management across the division.
  • Use lean tools (Waste reduction, problem solving, value stream mapping) to accomplish goals.
  • Support the development and implementation of standard ways of working, basic problem solving, idea generation, and Standard Work and best practices.
  • Provide divisional Continuous Improvement related trainings and participate in corporate committees

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering, business, project management or related field required.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt. ASQ (American Society for Quality) Quality Improvement, Lean Certification or other professional certifications.  If not currently certified, candidate agrees to pursue certification.
  • Data driven individual who is able to work as an individual contributor team leader, or team member.
  • Excellent communications, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Must be able to manage several projects simultaneously and delegate work to others as needed.
  • Familiar with project management software tools; MS project would be a plus.
  • Familiar with Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA’s), Lean, Value Stream, DMAIC and problem-solving tools preferred.
