Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Haley has a new opportunity for Core Maker Machine Operators. The successful incumbent will make all types of sand cores. We have multiple openings and the pay range is $24.15/hr to $27.45/hr. Successful candidates must be able to work 8-10 hour rotating Monday-Friday shifts. 

Essential Responsibilties

• Receives work assignments from foreman or supervisor.
• Picks up or orders required patterns and coreboxes, cleans and prepares and loads cores, patterns or coreboxes, onto line or core blowing machine.
• Prepares pattern or coreboxes in terms of appropriate sleeves, chills, risers, frames, tex vent, plastic locators, lifting hooks and arbours and sprays chills with required chill wash as per foundry technique.
• Uses continuous mixer or transports sand to place in patterns or core boxes and loads sand into blowers when required. Packs sand by hand in core boxes.
• Place chills, tex vent, insulating sleeves in pre-designated position of cores when required, finishes ramming, strikes off box face of core with straight edge.
• Operates blower machine to fill box and operates blower or gassing cabinet to gas and purge cores.
• Places pattern or core box in position on roller conveyor or uses transfer cart to position on rollover.
• Strips cores from all boxes either manually or using rollover.
• Stripes cores of all loose pieces, inspects cores, performs preliminary cleaning of cores as required.
• Transports job related materials as required by use of hand cart or fork lift truck.
• Transports cores and molds to designated areas_
• Does minor maintenance to keep equipment clean and in good operational order.
• Calibrates and records data for SPC charts.
• Prepares tests sand samples.

Position Requirements

• 1-2 years manufacturing experience will be considered an asset
• Must possess High School Diploma/GED Certificate or equivalent training/experience
• All candidates will be required to pass a general aptitude test in order to be considered
• Must be able to work 8-10 hour rotating shifts
