About the Role

As a Core Finisher in our Foundry operations, you’ll play a key role in preparing high‑quality sand cores used in our casting processes. This hands‑on position is ideal for someone who is detail‑oriented, safety‑focused, and enjoys working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect sand cores visually to ensure quality prior to processing
  • Clean and finish cores using filing, brushing, vacuuming, and other tools
  • Drill vents and install plastic vent tubing to maintain proper airflow
  • Repair minor defects using patching materials and core paste
  • Dry patches using a propane torch and smoke cores as required
  • Transport cores from the print room and store them in designated areas
  • Perform second checks on printed cores
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area following 6S standards
  • Report equipment issues, material concerns, or irregularities to your supervisor
  • Collaborate with engineers on developmental or prototype jobs
  • Follow all plant safety rules and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Education Requirements:

Candidates must possess a High School Diploma/GED Certificate or equivalent training and experience.

Security Requirements:

  • We conduct a criminal Record Check on all new hires
  • We conduct a Government Controlled Goods Program (CGP) Check on all new hires; must be able to give 3 references to help verify your identity

Work Conditions:

  • The ideal candidate will be able to work a shift rotation (Currently Monday-Friday morning and afternoon shifts but subject to change based upon business needs).
  • Must be able to wear a respirator.
    • For a respirator to function effectively, it must form a close and secure fit to the face. Any gaps in the seal can allow airborne contaminants to bypass the respirator, reducing its protective capability. That's why fit testing and being clean-shaven in the areas where the mask seals are essential components of proper respirator use.
  • Manual dexterity and depth perception required to perform remote handling of various materials/parts.
  • Extended periods of standing at a work station on cement production floor.
  • Must wear appropriate Protective Personal Equipment such as: Hearing Protection, CSA approved steel toed footwear, safety glasses, etc.).
