Job Title: X-Ray Level II Technician

 

Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Glendale specializes in the manufacturing of precision magnesium and aluminum sand castings. We are looking for a skilled Level II X-Ray Technician to join our team. In this role, you will perform, interpret, and document non-destructive test on magnesium and aluminum castings. We’re looking for a detailed-oriented inspector who can ensure our material meet the highest industry standards and technical specifications.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform radiographic testing (RT) on components, and materials to identify and evaluate defects.
  • Interpret and evaluate radiographic images in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and procedures.
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate radiographic equipment, ensuring safe and effective operation.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records of findings.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to address nonconforming and proposed solutions.
  • Follow NDE procedures and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and customer requirements.
  • Proficiency in the use of radiographic testing equipment.
  • Familiarity with other NDE methods (e.g., PT, DR) is advantageous.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior technicians as needed.
  • Strictly adhere to all radiation safety regulations, company safety guidelines, and established quality assurance procedures
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • Strong understanding of NDE principles, methods, and standards (e.g., ASTM, ASME).

 

  • Current NDE Level II certification in Radiographic Testing (RT) in accordance with NAS410
  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in non-film RT within aerospace, manufacturing, or a related industry.
  • Experience interpreting complex radiographic images and working with advanced materials is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain Level 2 certification in Radiographic Testing (RT)
  • 80 hours of specialized RT training and documented on-the-job experience
  • Actively participate in all training activities to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to progress toward certified to a DR Level 2 certification
  • Must be able to free lift 50 pounds.
  • Must have good attendance record
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be able to work overtime when required, especially at month end.
  • Must pass a Jaeger eye exam
  • Must be flexible with possible shift change
