Foundry Melter – Pourer Tender

Description:

 

In this position, the successful candidate will perform duties related to operating the melting equipment to melt and pour a wide variety of parts using different alloys.

 

 

Incumbent will operate and maintain a variety of electric/gas furnaces ranging in capacity from 50 pounds to 1 ton. The incumbent is responsible for changing alloying refining, and pouring both magnesium and aluminum.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

 

-Work as part of a team to pour metal.

-Production metal of proper alloy and bringing it to correct pouring temperature.

-May assist charging, and operating the furnace.

-Cleaning pots and poured

-Cleaning around the pouring lines and department

-Knowledge in reading and interpreting work instructions.

 

Qualifications preferred

 

-Experience in a foundry manufacturing environment preferred.

-This position will also require the successful candidate to set up air and/or vacuum units to meet required melting parameters.

-High School Diploma

-Knowledge and experience of operating maintaining furnace is a plus

-Basic understanding of metal characteristics (metallurgy), foundry furnace and mathematics.

-Lift and carry up to (50lbs)

-Ability to work in a high temperature environment

-Physical dexterity and ability to stand for extended periods of time

-Willingness to work in fast-pace and sometimes noisy environment

-Good communications skills and ability to work well in a team setting

 

Safety activities:

 

-Be aware of an observe all safety practices, including but not limited to –Safety glasses, safety boots, hearing protection, etc. as required

-Know and follow all safety rules and procedures

-Participate in safety committees and initiatives as assigned.
