Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Manager

 

Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Glendale specializes in the manufacturing of precision magnesium and aluminum sand castings. We are seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to provide full-time oversight for our facility. This role ensures operations comply with local, state and federal regulations, as well as Magellan company policies. The successful candidate will maintain our ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and drive continuous improvement across all safety and environmental programs.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage compliance with local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations, including OSHA, ISO and internal controls.
  • Oversee the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) and internal audit program, reporting key results directly to senior leadership.
  • Develop and implement organization wide EHS management systems, establishing performance tacking metrics to ensure safety targets are met.
  • Coordinate government reporting and regulatory monitoring, including filed testing and data measurements to satisfy compliance mandates.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the organization, regulatory agencies and registrar bodies for environmental and safety matters.
  • Drive a Zero-Incident Culture through continuous employee engagement, high visibility, and proactive safety leadership.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections across all company facilities, including manufacturing floors, shops, warehouses, and offices.
  • Perform root-cause analysis for all EHS incidents and near-misses to identify systemic failures and prevent recurrence.
  • Identify hazardous conditions and evaluate facilities, procedures, and equipment to implement necessary engineering safeguards and solutions.
  • Maintain EHS documentation and filing systems to guarantee records are accurate, organized, and readily retrievable for audits.
  • Identify occupational health and safety needs to integrate into comprehensive corporate training plans.
  • Deliver safety programs and training initiatives, including machine guarding protocols, daily Safety Talks, and hazard communication.
  • Maintain a strong floor presence through daily walk-throughs to provide real-time EHS support and guidance to manufacturing teams
  • May be required to handle hazardous waste
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

 

  • Minimum 5 year of dedicated EHS experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Deep understanding of industrial safety regulations, hazards recognition, and mitigation strategies (ADOSH, EPA, DOT).
  • Professional fluency in English, bilingual skills in Spanish are highly desired.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities to interpret safety metrics and investigate incidents.
  • High presence role requiring continuous concentrated sensory attention on the manufacturing shop floor.
