Job Title: Calibration Technician Job Description

 

Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Glendale specializes in the manufacturing of precision magnesium and aluminum sand castings. We have an exciting opportunity for a Calibration Technician. The successful incumbent will be reporting to the Quality Manager, they will inspect, adjusts, tests, and maintains measurement devices and equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability against industry standards. Key responsibilities include performing calibrations, maintaining calibration records and databases, troubleshooting equipment issues, following technical procedures, and coordinating with external calibration vendors.

Strong attention to detail, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities are essential for this role.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Calibration: Perform routine and non-routine calibrations on various instruments and equipment according to technical manuals, procedures, and industry standards. Conduct inspections, tests, and evaluations to ensure they meet specifications and tolerances.
  • Activity planning: Coordinate with internal departments and external calibration suppliers to ensure timely and effective calibration processes.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment to ensure its proper functionality and reliability.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot inconsistencies in equipment performance and investigate reasons for inaccuracies.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate calibration records, manage equipment database (Gagetrak), and compile operational data.
  • Procedure Maintenance and Development: Create, update, and implement procedures for calibration and equipment management.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in quality management systems, customer and third-party audits to show compliance of measuring equipment management processes.

Position Requirements

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with calibration principles, techniques, and various measurement instruments.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage schedules, maintain orderly records, and organize work effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong ability to follow precise instructions and maintain high levels of accuracy.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Excellent abilities in evaluating data, identifying inconsistencies, and solving technical issues.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Computer / software skills: Competency in using calibration software (Gagetrak), databases, and other relevant IT systems.
