Position Summary:
Magellan Aerospace, New York has an exciting new opportunity for a Receiving Inspector. The purpose of this position is to ensure that all incoming materials and components meet the required quality standards and specifications. The successful incumbent will be responsible for inspecting, verifying, and documenting incoming materials to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
The salary range for this position is $17.00 to $20.00 per hour.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Inspect incoming materials and components according to established procedures and specifications.
- Verify quantities, part numbers, and documentation against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of incoming material to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Utilize measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges, to perform accurate inspections.
- Identify and document any non-conforming materials or discrepancies, and communicate findings to the appropriate personnel.
- Work closely with the purchasing department to resolve issues related to non-conforming materials or discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation, including inspection reports and material certification documents.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality-related issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in supplier quality audits and assist in evaluating supplier performance as needed.
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing or a similar precision manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of inspection techniques, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced production environment and adapt to changing priorities.
