Position Summary

 

Magellan Aerospace, New York (Bohemia) is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our manufacturing team. The primary responsibility will be to support the preventive maintenance program within our manufacturing facility. The successful incumbent will play a crucial role in ensuring that all equipment, machinery, and systems are properly maintained to minimize downtime, improve operational efficiency, and prevent breakdowns. The pay range is $22/hr to $28/hr.

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

  • Execute Preventive Maintenance Tasks: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on a wide range of manufacturing equipment, including but not limited to machinery, conveyors, motors, pumps, HVAC systems, and electrical panels.
  • Inspection and Diagnosis: Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify potential issues or signs of wear and tear. Diagnose problems, troubleshoot malfunctions, and determine the appropriate course of action to rectify them.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Carry out repairs, adjustments, and replacements of faulty parts, components, or systems. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and calibration to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs performed, parts used, and maintenance logs. Report any significant findings, recurring issues, or potential risks to the maintenance supervisor or relevant personnel.
  • Equipment Testing: Conduct tests and inspections to ensure that repaired or newly installed equipment operates safely and efficiently. Perform functional tests, quality checks, and calibration procedures as required.
  • Compliance with Safety Standards: Adhere to all safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations while performing maintenance tasks. Identify and report any potential safety hazards or risks associated with equipment or machinery.
  • Spare Parts Management: Assist in maintaining an organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment necessary for maintenance and repair activities. Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure the availability of required spare parts and supplies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting process enhancements, recommending equipment upgrades, or proposing modifications to prevent recurring issues and optimize maintenance procedures.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
