The salary range for this position is $78,000 to $82,000 annually.
Position Overview:
Magellan Aerospace, New York, Inc. is seeking a skilled and dedicated Quality Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining, managing and controlling nonconformance products. This position is ideal for someone with at least two years of experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in aerospace or a similar industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality System Management: Maintain and improve the company's quality management system, ensuring compliance with AS9100 standards and customer-specific requirements.
- Process Improvement: Identify, analyze, and implement process improvements to enhance product quality and reduce defects, waste, and variability.
- Root Cause Analysis: Conduct and support root cause analyses of non-conformances, customer complaints, internal defects, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Customer and Supplier Interface: Act as a liaison with customers and suppliers on quality-related matters, including the resolution of customer complaints, customer rejections, suppliers rejections and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Customer Requirements: Understand and adhere to customer requirements related to customer complaint, Concession submittals and corrective action
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including corrective action reports, submittal of nonconformance to customer review and disposition, and quality performance metrics. Present findings to management, suppliers and customers as required.
- Customer and Internal Nonconformance Disposition: Create and revise work order requirements to incorporate customer and internal engineering disposition of nonconformance products.
- Quality Database: Enter, modify and maintain nonconformance quality database for all internal, suppliers and customer related nonconformances,
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements. Stay up to date with industry developments and emerging quality assurance technologies.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate degree in Engineering, or a related engineering or manufacturing field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace or a similar industry.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of quality management systems (QMS) and standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar. Experience with control of Nonconformance products, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and draw actionable conclusions.
- Knowledge of basic measurement tools like micrometers, Vernier calipers
- Knowledge and interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications including Geometric Drawing and Tolerancing-GD&T
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications such as excel, word, power point.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
- Proficiency in quality-related software tools and statistical analysis techniques.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
